Unity Flame

About This Project

Unity Flame – Kirkland Fire Station 21 – Kirkland, WA – 2025

Unity Flame is a large-scale public sculpture created for Kirkland Fire Station 21, honoring first responders and the community they serve. This site-specific public artwork was designed as a welcoming focal point at the station’s entrance.

Inspired by the shapes  and motion of fire, the sculpture features curving powder-coated steel elements in warm, vibrant colors, rising in a unified upward spiral. Each strand represents an individual thread within the community, coming together to express connection, resilience, and shared purpose.Crowned with sculptural fire nozzles modeled after those used by Engine 21, the piece integrates functional reference with an abstract  form, grounding the work in the identity of the firehouse.

Fabricated by Engineered Artworks, Unity Flame reflects Orlando’s approach to public sculpture—focusing on community identity, material precision, and an exhilarating civic presence.
