About This Project

Dragonfly — Burning Man, NV — 2024

Dragonfly is a large-scale kinetic sculpture and immersive art car created for Burning Man 2024. Commissioned by the Lucid Dreams camp, this mobile sculpture combines engineered structure, light, and motion into a living, luminous form on the playa.

Inspired by the delicate mechanics of a dragonfly, the sculpture reinterprets the insect as a monumental, machine-like organism. An expertly-fabricatedsteel exoskeleton supports articulated wings and a fully integrated system of programmable LED lighting, allowing the piece to shift between states, quietly sculptural by day, and vividly animated by night.

Fabricated by Engineered Artworks, Dragonfly presents an approach to large-scale sculpture and interactive art that is technically sophisticated, collaborative, and imaginative.
